Forging a difference since 1963

Forged Products, Inc. has served the oil & gas industry from Houston, Texas since 1963, and today is ISO 9001:2015 certified through Lloyd's Register. The company works in carbon, low-alloy, and stainless steel as well as titanium and nickel alloys, forged through open-die, closed-die, extrusion, and mandrel methods depending on what a part actually calls for.

The Houston plant runs a 6,500-ton and a 3,000-ton digitally controlled hydraulic forging press alongside a Dango & Dienenthal manipulator, car-bottom heat-treat furnaces with a 44,000-gallon water quench tank, and in-house rough and finish machining, so a forging never has to leave the building to reach its final dimensions.

Inside STS Metals, Forged Products is the group's heavy-forging specialist, built for parts none of the titanium companies are set up to make: subsea housings, riser connectors and flanges, BOP bodies and rams, and wind turbine shafts, forged up to 60,000 lbs and machined up to 120 inches in diameter.

In-house, under one roof

From forge to finished part

Open-die, closed-die, extrusion, and mandrel forging in carbon, alloy, stainless, titanium, and nickel grades, with heat treating, machining, and testing all on site in Houston.

6,500 and 3,000-ton hydraulic presses

Two digitally controlled open-die presses forge parts up to 60,000 lbs, with parting up to 80" round or square.

Dango & Dienenthal manipulator

A dedicated forging manipulator positions and rotates heated workpieces through the press for controlled, repeatable open-die work.

Car-bottom heat-treat furnaces

Furnaces paired with a 44,000-gallon water quench tank handle annealing, quenching, tempering, stress relieving, and solution treating and aging in house.

In-house rough and finish machining

Grinding, boring, milling, and turning finish forgings up to 120" in diameter and 12' in length without leaving the plant.

Non-destructive testing

In-house NDE (non-destructive examination, checking for internal flaws without cutting the part open) confirms quality before shipment.

Sandblasting and finishing

In-house blast cleaning brings forgings to final surface condition.
