Cold drawing specialist

Brown Europe has been a recognized manufacturer since 1985, producing coils and bars for industrial sectors with high technical requirements. Cold working of high-performance alloys is the house expertise: wires and bars in stainless steels, alloy steels, titanium, and superalloys, mainly for the manufacturing of fasteners used in aerospace applications.

More than 1,100 tons leave its two production sites in southwestern France every year, inside the Midi-Pyrenees Aerospace Cluster. The new Brive-la-Gaillarde facility, at the A89/A20 highway intersection, improves execution speed, safety standards, and quality while enhancing production flexibility.

Inside STS Metals, Brown Europe is the group's European production base, carrying the broadest product capabilities and OEM qualifications of the six companies. It is qualified by major OEMs: Rolls-Royce, General Electric, Safran Aircraft Engines, Airbus Helicopters, and BAE Systems. Every order is tested in its own laboratory before it ships.

In-house, under one roof

From coil to certified bar

Two French plants carry the full chain on site: cold drawing, heat treating, shot blasting, descaling, pickling, peeling, shaving, straightening, grinding, eddy current and ultrasonic testing, and a full testing lab.

Two rows of heavy hardened rolls on a machine face with bar stock running between them.

Wire drawing

5,000 m2 (53,820 sq ft) of wire drawing facility produces customized sizes with minimal set-up time.

Thermal treatment furnaces

Advanced furnace capabilities deliver outstanding operating efficiency, enhanced production scheduling, increased capacity, and improved delivery reliability.

Automated bar lines

Automated straightening and grinding lines manufacture bars from wire stock, free from surface defects and maximizing yields.

Surface preparation

Physical and chemical processing methods eliminate IGA lines and achieve final surface cleanliness.

Surface coating

Copper plating, Molykote, Miraflex, phosphate, and soap coatings, with thickness controlled under full production control.

Testing laboratory

Every order is tested in-house for required mechanical properties, with multiple checks throughout manufacturing and EN10204 Type 3.1 certificates of conformity issued from the internal lab.
